What We Use in the Calculators
Each calculator looks at a few key things:
- How many people are in your home (household size)
- Your income (how much money you earn each month or year)
- Your situation — such as having children, being pregnant, disabled, or over 65
What the Results Mean
- The results show if you may be eligible and an estimated benefit amount.
- This is just an estimate — not an official answer or decision.
- Only the state agency can confirm if you qualify.
Simple Example of How We Figure Income
We change what you earn into a monthly income:
- If you are paid hourly, we use: hourly pay × hours per week × 4.33
- If you are paid weekly, we use: weekly pay × 4.33
- If you are self-employed, we count about 60% of your income (to allow for expenses)
